Lifestyle Investing Knows No Age

I had a great conversation with a gentlemen yesterday over a cup of coffee about one very important point.

Lifestyle Investing knows no age.  You don’t have to be young to start and you are never too old to increase your Return on Lifestyle Investment (ROLI).

This guy has worked for many years for a couple of large companies.  He works in IT and is very good at what he does, which means he worked a lot.  He was also on the road all the time, traveling throughout Europe.  He has twin, teenage daughters who have just moved out of the house to go to college.  He admitted to me that he missed much of their growing up. . . in his house.  Their move out of the house hit both he and his wife hard.

As a result of this emotional event he understands that his priorities have been misplaced.  Arguably he has already missed too much but the point is this event has made him realize his mistake.

Over the period of a few short weeks he has resigned from one job and found another much closer to home.  He had a four hour commute back and forth into the city to work.  Now his job is a 10 minute walk from his house.  His new job will not require travel and will even require fewer hours!

Now this is not going cause a huge jump in his ROLI but the point is he has taken positive steps forward to get back more of his time.  For him these are very good steps.  He wants very much to devote this extra time to his wife, his daughters, and himself.

That is Lifestyle Investing and you can take positive steps to increase your ROLI at any age!
